Openable Bangles vs Fixed Bangles — Which Should You Choose?
If you have ever tried to put bangles on over a full mehendi the morning of your wedding, you already know the answer to this question. But there is more to it than just convenience.
Fixed bangles
Fixed bangles are solid rings. They go on by sliding over your hand and they come off the same way. The look is clean because there is no clasp, no break in the circle.
The sizing problem is real. Fixed bangles require your knuckles to fit through the internal diameter. If you have wider knuckles relative to your wrist, which many women do, fixed bangles become a negotiation every time.
Openable bangles
Openable kadas have a hinge and clasp. You open it, place it on your wrist, click it shut. No soap, no negotiation, no bruising.
What they gain in ease they trade in one thing only: the clasp is visible. For very traditional contexts where the unbroken circle carries specific ritual meaning, it can matter. Know your occasion.
Everything else is a point in favour of openable. They fit a wider range of wrist sizes. They are easier to put on when you are already dressed, when your nails are done, when your mehendi is fresh.
Why our collection is entirely openable
We made this choice because of the women who were actually buying from us — brides, mostly. The last thing anyone needs on a wedding morning is a bangle situation.
Openable kadas also allow us to make more interesting designs. The Rajwadi patterns, the elephant motifs, the Swaroski styles need structural depth that works better in a kada format. Browse our full Bangle Collection.
Finding your size
Our kadas come in four sizes: 2.2, 2.4, 2.6, and 2.8 inches (internal diameter). Measure across your knuckles at the widest point. Most women wear 2.4. When in doubt, size up.
